Jalopnik Article On Elio May 1,17

They spent $141,000,000 and produced nothing in nine years, and need $376,000,000 more to get started? Game over. It was a fun ride. Bye guys, I'm out.

    Guns And Stuff Related.

Subsonic ammo is not intended cycle semi-automatic firearms. If 4 out of 5 rounds out of your Rugers successfully cycled them (and they were still subsonic), then it's outstanding ammo! :D

    Guns And Stuff Related.

Only if there are enough boollits! Otherwise they are just metal sticks. :D Between January 2013 and just now, 22LR has been the single hardest common ammo to find. And the most insanely overpriced. It's just now starting to show up in quality and quantity. The awful Automatch stuff started...

Not About Elio, But Spooky Close

Plastc was using new technology to create something that has never existed. Elio is (we hope) creating a new version of something that has already existed, with existing technology and many existing parts. Not close at all, IMHO. Except for the part about taking customer's money and not...

When Will They Go In To Production?

And that is the problem. Mr. Elio doesn't have the billions or the backing or the track record Mr. Musk has. I've often thought (and said so on this forum) that trying to go from 0 to 100 in one step was a mistake. It should have started with small production to get some on the street and get...

When Will They Go In To Production?

I think the handwriting on the wall is in big letters and bright colors. They started this project in 2008 and have been unable to get the project to production in nine-years-going-on-ten. That's record-setting territory. It's a significant miracle they've survived this long without shipping...

Anonymous (wishful Thinking) Delivery Date Poll

It's official now, it will not happen before 2018. Some (many) of you may wish to change your votes.

    New Style

Went back to the old style. New style is too large and jumpy. Have to mouse-over the user block to see location, reservation, etc. Also requires allowing tracking from bootstrapcdn for some font symbols to work. Thanks for the effort, but the changes are totally unnecessary, IMHO. Change...

"the All-american Elio" In Classic Motorsports Magazine

Ah, so it's Marketing™. Well, One hand washes the other, as they say... Those trailers are $26,000.00 before even getting into options and delivery. I guess there is some marketing crossover as many people who will see the Elio at big car shows and auctions are the kind that have disposable...

    Elio Progress

I love ya, Coss, but I just don't think that's true. Paul has often used his "single mother" that needs a car to get to her job. And talked about how the Elio is better than a used car for a college student or recent grad. Both those cases are single-car households. As I remember, Elio...

    Turbo-charging .9 Liter Elio Engine

Welcome to the forum, Fredio, from a Hazzard County neighbor! :D (Don't forget to vote! :usa2:) Current opinion is it's likely a misstatement by a marketing-type at Elio. The engine will have a timing chain. That said, you may have been asleep since the ninety's. ;) Yes, timing belts were...

Understood. I'm OK with being wrong. I just hope I'm on the late side of wrong! ;)

What Is The Latest Start Production Date?

My prediction is production will commence in 4th quarter 2017. Come back then or when you start seeing Elios on the road, whichever comes first. :D

Disaster On Three Wheels. Oh, My....

Says the guy holding a .50 BMG rifle in his avatar! :D Looks like a Barrett M82A1.

Disaster On Three Wheels. Oh, My....

Which is why I say start practicing Third Wheel Awareness now. It will still be possible to avoid potholes if your TWA and SA (Situational Awareness) are up-to-snuff. As for the greasy middle problem: Ride a little to the left or right of the center line, as-appropriate, to avoid that by...

    The Elio Engine

I doubt Mr. Elio approached Nissan as the Elio's 3-cylinder engine has exact opposite goals from Nissan's. If you were to detune it by making it a 1 liter, 100 horsepower engine, you would have effectively designed a completely new engine. Economy is largely dependent on things attached to the...

Does The Government Really Care How Much Gas We Burn?

You also might want to look up Jevon's Paradox: The more efficient you make cars, the more gasoline we will use. The only thing that causes gasoline consumption decline is economic disaster. So let's just have a depression. That will really save some gas.

Does The Government Really Care How Much Gas We Burn?

What about people like my sister, who has to own a giant, gas-guzzling conversion van with a wheelchair lift to transport my handicapped nephew? It sucks down more gas than a Hummer. If you say "oh, we make an exception", then your off into the weeds and before long you have a 1000-page tax...

    Three Wheel Weight Distribution

I expect the distribution will be each wheel gets 1/3 of the weight. Maybe slightly more on the fronts empty, slightly more on the rear full. The laws of physics can't be engineered out, and the Elio will have a computer nanny to make sure the driver doesn't crash so it doesn't really matter.
