Goofyone- Thanks for helping to clarify. I have tried to explain before that crash testing is not required to sell the Elio. Not before they sell it- or after. Even regular automakers like Toyota release cars before "The Government" gets around to testing them. And of course being a small car...
A removable backseat is a good idea but let's don't make the rear seat optional. I can just hear the nay-sayers now- "It doesn't even come with a back seat!" And "You have to pay extra for that!!"...
One concern I have is that I thought Paul Elio had stated long ago that the government funding loan is not a requirment and now the whole thing seems to be dependent on it??
How will Elio handle safety recalls? I've had too many on my Ford Escape, 1 on my Chevy Cruze, and just got one on my Kia Soul...Got me thinking about the Elio. I guess it would go to the nearest Pep-Boys??
Here in Texas they just changed to one sticker only. Just the registration sticker now. But will it be on the rear plate like a motorcycle or front windshield like a car? Guessing the rear plate...
Hope the engine is successful but do we have any information on the transmission? Will this have to be developed also or just using one "off the shelf"?
