I would say that you do not get the OEM part that was replaced with a option. It is all about $$$. Just like new 4 wheel vehicles. I am sure that you will be able to purchase the OEM part at the brick&mortar store along with options not originally ordered.

Horsepower is NOT free. If you do not care about fuel mileage... transplant that little Ford 3cyl. turbo into the Elio. I think the Elio engine is a good compromise for power,fuel mileage and speed,given the weight of the vehicle.

I think the "suppliers" will be fine tuning things like hoses,wire looms,brackets,etc. for cost effectiveness. Basic engine design is done though.
