That would be actually very good. Auto makers usually have an under 6% profit margin. See this for examples of profit margins across industries: http://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar/New_Home_Page/datafile/margin.html
For example by leaving out comments such as: “…good luck getting an [Elio] without a drivetrain when you can’t get one WITH a drivetrain!”
As others have pointed out, right now your project isn’t exactly rolling off the assembly line either so to speak. And no, to compare an Elio that is well...
I like the looks of your design, but why not keep your comments friendlier?
Not many that will buy an Elio next year (or later if production will be delayed), will have any interest in it being electric in the near future. Me neither, since for what I would like to use the Elio for, the...
The Smart is essentially an European car that doesn’t appeal much to U.S. consumers.
In Europe you can often park a Smart sideways, which makes it very convenient in many cities. The mpg of the turbo diesel also isn’t bad at all: 71mpg.
It like with many things: Europeans have a different...
Technically, the whole Elio could be converted to pedal/electric hybrid power, though an even lighter frame would be better of course and financially that would not make much sense (but the technology is there). The power required depends on weight and aerodynamics, the more those two can be...
The one you link to isn’t the one Elio has included in the P4, this is the one: http://www.conti-online.com/www/automotive_de_en/themes/passenger_cars/interior/connectivity/pi_autolinq_en.html?page=3
The Continental website only mentions FM radio (same as in the AutoLinQ Mobile manual). Possibly because in many countries AM doesn’t play a big role anymore. On the bright side: with the bluetooth connectivity you could connect satellite, AM and all kinds of other receivers.
The Elio’s Continental AutoLinQ Mobile radio will have FM as well as USB and bluetooth input: http://www.conti-online.com/www/download/automotive_de_en/themes/passenger_cars/interior/connectivity/guide_en.pdf
Did not know that the F 300 had that problem. I don’t think they ever put any work in it besides making the prototype, so likely that could have been solved in future versions.
Only about 300 were built of the Inter autoscooter three wheeler (France, 1953). Nice rag top :) Like the Messerschmidt it was built by an airplane manufacturer.
In videos the Mercedes Benz LifeJet F 300 seems to tilt just fine. The Carver also had the tilt part worked out.
I think the question is more: do people want their vehicles to tilt? I like it, but then I also enjoy riding motorcycles. I am not so sure that the average buyer, that isn’t used to...
I wonder if this is a final design. It seems like most ATM transmissions also have a display for the selected gear (a previous version of that dash had it too), as on can’t see which gear is selected it from the position of the shift lever.
I t is unlikely that the mpg will stay the same with a higher power output.
Turbochargers allow for smaller engines to be used and that can result in savings. But the same engine with a turbo will need more energy to produce more energy, everything else being equal.
I go through a lot of cartridges and mostly buy the cheapest after market ones I can find, for around $10-13 per cartridge. Never had any problems. If you go on eBay and look for an US based top rated seller with low complaints, you shouldn’t have much issues. I would buy only one or two at...
