I learned more than most on this thread may want to hear during the last year in this journey. 'The system' has many wonderfully caring and competent professionals...but is a badly broken system. No one really guided me thru it. I had to learn as I went thru it. Maybe the resources were there...
Hey, mind if I ask what your 'A-code' was at FAA...AFS? I traveled to HQ fairly frequently from Wisconsin when I was in airline training and safety mgmt. I'm now just down the road a bit in Roseburg.
With one word, this guy is discredited: 'will'. He said Elio WILL fail...and added some descriptive to that absolute prediction. Now Elio has not succeeded to date but merely making an absolute prediction of the future without the credentials of a prophet is reason alone to be disregarded. But...
Until three weeks ago, my commute was 331 feet...from our place to my dad's where I was his primary caregiver for the last 10 months. I did that several times a day. I was also his chauffeur and financial fiduciary w my wife doing the books and serving as the personal chef. 100 hour weeks w...
Thanx, Neal, for posting the quote. I'd much rather comment here than give him a click.
A 'con'? Hmmm. His opinion, perhaps.
Interior 'vastly improved' and 'Elio has finally hired people that know how to build a car'. Seems to demonstrate an ignorance of the process involving iterations from...
Not certain which Briggs, but perhaps I should have said long-time companies. Like Coss said, space is cost, but also prime location is cost. But what I had learned is that the long-timers (big boys, as I termed it) actually buy out the good spots years ahead so newbies cannot get those at any...
My experience w the really huge aviation shows is that all the prime real estate is reserved years in advance by 'the big boys' which works to their advantage and to the disadvantage of any upstarts. Newcomers are effectively locked out of good visibility and simply cannot obtain prime spots at...
"Busy work?" I respect your right to hold a different opinion. My experience with engineering projects is that no one other than an insider would really know. I seriously doubt that a project filled with 'busy work' would hold the interest of the officials of this effort with the credentials...
Some good work, guys. I've been consumed by family health crises in the midst of this conversation...and couldn't follow up w more research. Seems like that was done. I am tilting in favor of a Federal autocycle designation not only for this but for CAFE as well. I don't recall if the FMVSS...
Not a generic exemption. Morgan had a inconsequential noncompliance determination. Very often a petitioner will reference an earlier IN determination in their petition. Morgan referenced a GM petition and determination tho it was not completely on point. It was about daylight running light...
See ecfr.gov for official source of US CFRs including FMVSS. To find exemptions from CFRs, search the Federal Register. Most automakers, foreign and domestic, have made petitions which resulted in agency determinations of inconsequential noncompliance with some FMVSS. I found Morgan had such a...
Ok. So here is one take away from this topic that relates to the Elio. How many years did they say it took for the Cubs owner to fully develop a winning team? 5 years, they said. Established game, established team, established location, established (loyal) fans (market). Now, I'm giving Paul...
So, it appears you are either an insider violating an NDA and SEC rules, or you are speculating. No? So who are the large investors uninterested in Elio? I'd say it's easy to be a critic. Yes, I've been an insider in a NYSE traded public company and when it went private.
I love this quote. When I'm taking on a seemingly impossible task, it gives me encouragement. When I am the spectator, it reminds me to be respectful.

I believe the referenced rule does apply to the Elio...sort of...because I also believe that Elio specifically said that they applied for and received an exemption from the rule. Such an exemption petition and any grant would be published in the Federal Register by the granting agency.
I never believed and still do not believe that this SE message had anything to do with PE or EM. The reference to 'vehicle' was to SE -- not The Elio or any motor vehicle. I believe the connection (beyond the prize) was an unfortunate but understandable leap beyond logic.
Skygazer, I agree with your general premise that messing with the tires could be consequential. However, I believe the predominant factor in theoretical dynamic hydroplane speed is tire pressure. DHS in mph is about 10 x sq root of tire pressure in psi. Merely underinflated tires will hydro at a...
Thanx for the tip. The confusing part is that many OK states have not implemented autocycle as a definition. Example is Oregon and there are other states that had Elio-OK laws pre-Elio. My prior job included statutory and regulatory research but I'm glad to hear from any with specifics on their...
