LOL I had a small savings account I'd throw pennies in over the years waiting on this pipe dream to come to fruition. No longer need a commuter car, so I literally cashed out that account last weekend and got a fun new-to-me ride. Then the email today. Perfect timing :)

I have 100 shares to print out and throw at the fat lady if she ever sings.
This is a lot more pathetic than I thought it would be. I remember Paul saying the ATVM loan was not their only option, but in many ways it looks like it was. Who lets their pet project go down this far, get this much...
There is a great deal of marketing in all of the published bits from EM, especially when they change direction. I'm a marketer, so I tend not to believe any of it :)
If we look at this in the long-term, it wouldn't surprise me if certain aspects of the first model are implemented just to get...
What if your 'car' isn't equipped with blind spots? I've never sat in a prototype, but it seems like there aren't any blind spots given the width and taper of the passenger compartment, assuming the mirrors can be adjusted properly.
An update for those interested... I took the insurance payout of $8200 and bought a 2015 Mitsu Mirage DE from Hertz car sales. 30k miles on the clock, $7800. This is my bridge to get to the Elio. Bought it in LA and drove back to SF. Got about 44 MPG, basically, double what the Audi used to get...
That's interesting. I have a few friends who drive for them here, and have had positive experiences. San Francisco may have a larger user base. I'll research it more before doing it regardless.
I had 250k on my Audi TT before someone couldn't break in time. I thought I might get 300 or 400 out of it. Still runs great, but $12k estimate to fix it isn't worth taking on. Pains me to look at it now.
I can't imagine over a million in one car.
Not quite that far north. SF Bay Area.
I'm considering going after a 1-year-old / 30k mile Mitsu Mirage off a rental car lot. Gas mileage is around 40. Put a year on it, trade it in along with my wife's car for something that can accommodate a growing family. Elio is cash in an account...
Couple of additions to your observations - on the Turbo, he said that they don't have any specific plans for a turbo, that they aren't focusing on it, haven't done any engineering around it, etc. But the way the engine is designed it may be able accommodate one.
For the multimedia stuff, he...
