I think its about time for a change like this .... if anything, I'd of recommended moving it back to the 25 yard line :

"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The NFL is moving back extra-point kicks and allowing defenses to score on conversion turnovers.

The owners on Tuesday approved the competition committee's proposal to snap the ball from the 15-yard line on PATs to make them more challenging. In recent seasons, kickers made more than 99 percent of the kicks with the ball snapped from the 2.

"There was strong sentiment coming out of our meetings in March that something had to be done with our extra point," said Texans general manager Rick Smith, a member of the competition committee that proposed this specific rule change. "From a kicking perspective the try was over 99 percent (successful), so we tried to add skill to the play.

"It was also a ceremonial play."

The accepted proposal places the 2-point conversion at the 2, and allows the defense to return a turnover to the other end zone for the two points, similar to the college rule. The defense can also score two points by returning a botched kick.

The change was approved only for 2015, then will be reviewed. But Smith predicts it will become permanent.

"This isn't an experiment," Smith added. "This is a rule change. We expect this to be a part of the game."

The vote was 30-2. Washington and Oakland voted no.SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The NFL is moving back extra-point kicks and allowing defenses to score on conversion turnovers.

Hey, I'm usually up on all the NFL changes and keep up with the news but this had slipped past me. Thanks for posting it here.

I like the NFL's efforts to try and change things a bit for the PAT. Thumps up.

The defense's ability to return botched kicks and a turnover on 2-point tries will make things more interesting for sure. But kicking from the 15 yd line IMO will only add about 10 more misses for the entire season of 256 games, which would be about 98% successful instead of 99%. For games where weather is an issue such as wind rain or snow, we'll see if there are misses.

I suppose it's possible that on a rare occasion, a team might decide to go for 2 from the 2 yd line because the chance of them missing in effect a 33 yd kick due to weather is higher than usual. There was one game last year I believe, that the snow was so high on the field that most times the teams chose to go for 2 pts.

I like the idea, but agree they should have moved it back a little more. This is a one year experiment, so it's likely to change again next yer. The other option i like is to move the ball to the one yard line and encourage more teams to go for 2.

Also no one will be allowed to get with in 5 yards of a Quarterback. and you must allow a The person receiving the ball on a punk to run at least 5 yards before making a move on them.
They need to start the record books all over .
