I hit 295,000 miles in my Sunfire last night. I think using the ECOTEC 2.2L motor from Europe was one of the best decisions i'd seen personally from GM.
The only mistakes I have had with mine were because I was an idiot in a hurry. I screwed up the threads for the spark plug on one of the cylinders because I rushed a spark plug change job with a warm engine. I didn't tighten the oil filter housing down enough once. Never do that again...
My Sunfire has the 5 Speed Getrag (sp?) transmission in it. I like how it has a solid heavy duty oil pan versus the automatic which looks very flimsy in comparison. Plus there is a LOT of torque.
