Car died last night. Delivers Fuel but no spark. Pretty sure its the timing chain or ignition relay but at that mileage how many more miles are truly left...

I'm sad to see it go but I DEFINITELY got my $6200 worth out of Deer Magnet.

Going to haul it off for scrap metal.

Thanks for everyone's advice on how to keep it going as long as I did. Forever appreciated.

And so close to 300k! Hey! Maybe she'll come back as an Elio chassis or some other component!

I just went the opposite route. $627 spent under the hood of the commuter car, along with new tires all around 2 months ago. I'll keep throwing occasional parts at it until the body is shot. Still way cheaper than a 3-500 a month car payment.

What are you replacing her with?

I have a Dodge Grand Caravan paid in full.

2006 with 204,000 miles.

My Sunfire has bad frame rust above the rear axle, plus needed a sub frame and clutch. I paid $6200 for it used with 49,826 on the odometer. I replaced a lot of parts but my body is not as cooperative with long periods of hard surfaces and bending.

Good for you! The best I ever got out of my GM's was 232K. I've had several Hondas with well over 300K and currently driving a Geo tracker (canadian built) with 299K. Auto trans is failing and I plan to swap in a 5-speed...soon. This time of the year I get people offering to buy it almost every week.

I hope the Caravan continues to serve you well. My 2000 Saturn SL2 has about 176K miles, and I'm looking forward to replacing it with a Elio (or if the SL2 has a failure that's not economical to fix, maybe a used Prius C). My wife's 1999 Saturn SW2 had almost 270K miles when it was totaled two year ago.
