Hello,
I have tracked this for a while and am really looking forward to getting one but will I fit?
  • I am 6'-0" and 245 lbs, my head hits the roof on many of the cars I have test drove.
  • Is there a place I can sit in one of these? I live in North East PA but travel a bit.
JoeJoe, welcome from sunny New Mexico. At 235 lbs and 6' I had no problem fitting into the Elio. As you can see from the other responses from our friendly helpful forum members you should have no problems fitting in the Elio. Enjoy the forum and its many informative threads and enjoy the journey with us.

I fit at 6'2" and 290. And there was room to spare.

The car seems much larger on the inside than the outside. You will tower over it standing next to it, but once inside, you will be amazed at the head, shoulder, and especially leg room in the drivers seat. Another cool feature for taller guys is that you can put your elbows on each window ledge and still hold the steering wheel. I sat in the P5 and even the rear seat was spacious ( I am 6'3" 213#). It does feel a little claustrophobic in the rear seat, but I don't plan to ride back there. I think you will be amazed with the interior of the car when you do actually get to sit inside.

What kind of cars have you tried? Im 6'2" and 250 lbs. Three of my last four cars were compact (VW Golf), subcompact (Scion/Toyota xD)? And city car (Fiat 500). My head never got close to hitting the roof. The closest was the xD, but there was still some room.

I am tall in the "trunk", too. I have a hard time finding shirts that button below my naval.

The Elio should have a lot more room than my Fiat... And it's got plenty. It won't have the horsepower... About about ⅓ of the horsepower, actually. But I bet it will be a hoot to drive!

Find a shop that sells XT or XLT to get those lower buttons.

There was a time (about 2000 when I got my F-350) when I couldn't fit in many cars due to my head hitting the roof unless I was practically laying on my back. That has changed significantly. While I'm only 6'2", much of my height is in the upper torso. Perhaps due to being in that 5% who have an extra Lumbar. (It's actually just the lowest lumbar being split into two lumbars.) But it also makes back aches more common.

Yeah, I remember test-driving a Chrysler Crossfire one time--it was so uncomfortable! It had always been one of those dream cars for me, too, so not being able to drive comfortably crushed my dreams, too.

I think this EM email answers the question: Will I fit? (the guy is 7' tall!!)

New York City | Elio Motors Tour
by The Elio Team

Hello Elio'ers! The Elio Motors tour made a quick stop in the city that never sleeps for a bit of media attention. Some of the major outlets that were anxious to see the P5 up close and personal were Business Insider, Road and Track, and Car and Driver.

Check out the Car and Driver article that is already out!

t up to 84 MPG for a targeted $6,800* base price, the Elio is considered to be the people's car. So of course, we were happy to introduce the Elio to the New York locals. In true Elio fashion, pedestrians flocked to see the three-wheel wonder the most we put the P5 in park on the west side of Manhattan. See for yourself...

One of the most notable visitors was this 7-foot guy. Yes, you heard us. SEVEN FEET. And he made it in and out, a feat worthy to be included in Elio Motors' long list of accomplishments. Actual video here.

SEVEN FOOT. #Elio
