Mount the antenna like this LOL. This is what I run in my Ford Festiva.

K5BLX here. Will be at the very least putting my Yaesu 1900R in the car with a 5/8th 2m antenna using a lipmount. This is what I use on my Mini Cooper currently. Pics of that setup here http://i.imgur.com/2AQyXSQ.jpg and here http://i.imgur.com/jQU6Xey.jpg

The real fun will be in maybe doing an HF setup sooner or later. I have an FT-817ND that could make great work of a screwdriver or single bander hamstick mounted somewhere. I don't see myself fitting something larger than that in there... my FT-450D would be hilarious mounted on the dash or something though.

Good to see I'm not the only ham waiting for his Elio! 73's to all.
