Why? I do it just to tease the salespeople.
I had this one guy bring up 6 cars (go inside, get the keys, and bring it around front, since I'm disabled) for me to test. Used up about 1/2 a day and I got to drive some really nice cars.

I sense a need to find better entertainment. But that's just me.

Haven't you ever seen a car advertised that you were interested in?
But knew it's out of your price range, or just not practical for your situation?
Doing test drives give you a chance to drive them, and never spend a dime.

I don't do it often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
