Do Running Deer Have Directional Preferences ?

I ask out of sheer comedy. My Sunfire is apparently a deer magnet for the left to right running variety.

Another one nailed me in the rear left quarter Friday night during my final delivery. Only thing ... No deer to be found. Road totally empty.

So right side of my car looks normal, the left side might as well have bullseye marks.

Hilarious... Just absolutely hilarious.

Several years ago I hit 2 deer with 2 cars in 2 days. Both the same way, they jumped off a hill, I hit the deer and they went over my roof (praise the Lord, NOT thru my windshield). I took out the right front corner of a Cadillac sedan and the right front corner of a Olds cutlass. Never had a chance to brake and the "best" thing that happened was my insurance adjuster saw the Cadillac/deer accident he couldn't even ask a question. Hopefully never again!

I don't know which direction deer prefer to run, but they clearly hate GM products.

In NJ, my car was hit by a deer. It ran into the left side of my car, broke the mirror off and shattered the driver's side window. The mirror went forward and I ran over it. The deer was on the road but all I heard was hoofs on cement and did not see the deer run off. I have seen live deer on the side of the road but none came close to my car before. The car was a Nissan Sentra.

Now I am in NH. We have to worry about encounters with moose. I definitely don't want to have one run into me, especially since I drive a Smart Fortwo. Would it notice that it ran into a Smart car? One moose to another; 'Hey, dude, you have a Smart car stuck to one of your hooves'.

A deer ran into my F150 last week. It was of the left to right variety. There is clearly a pattern forming here.

When the deer totaled my truck in Colorado it was left to right. When the deer ran into my brand new motor home (~200 miles on odometer) in Port Huron it was left to right.

One wonders if there is a higher incidence of Right-to-Left collisions in the UK and other places that drive on the Clearly-Incorrect-Side-Of-The-Road.
