Does anyone know if Elio monitors this site or is there a direct rep replying to any questions, especially tech issues?

Yes the monitor the site - this has been mentioned at Elio events, no they don't answer questions or even identify themselves. If you want questions answered, post on their Facebook site. Last night I had a question answered in just a few minute.

Joshua Caldwell: Regarding the Elio & larger phones. Do the sides of the phone holder spread enough to hold the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 being released soon or the iPhone 6 Plus?

Elio Motors: Hello Joshua, the current unit in the P4, the Continental phone dock head unit, does not hold phones as large as the Note 4 or iPhone 6 Plus.

Elio Motors: You're welcome Joshua, there may be a different smartphone dock accessory as an option to support the "phablets".

I've emailed them several times and got fast responses too. Seems like it would be a good PR thing for them to have someone "with us".

I have only observed one direct contact and that was by the young lady on tour and in charge of Social Media. There had been a last minute change in event location, I believe in Columbus, and she joined specifically to let people know that. I have never seen her post since then but I did meet her in Portland. She takes and posts the Instagram pictures. :-) Z

I believe the biggest issue is that EM does not wish to tie themselves directly to any of the unofficial forums or sites as they do not have any control over these communications channels. From speaking with them we do know that they monitor what is being discussed on various online Elio gathering spots however they release information and answer questions almost exclusively via direct channels.
