Now wait a minute... What kind of $ could you get out of an almost new corvette drive train for example?
So granted, for an old clunker it'd be real pricey, but swapping out for a newer vehicle's guts...
Should at least take a little of the sting out of it. Not great, but better than nothing.

I'm all-in on Tesla's April 1st announcement. That would add $12K to the cost of my Elio, an affordable high performance EVElio retrofit.

Perhaps EM would offer MY Elio without a drive train to offset the EV retrofit cost.

I will say again , EV's are not about the motor, they are about the battery. Example is the heavyweight, best engineered, EV Model S.
From 2013, but I think it still applies until a miracle battery is made. 30% of the weight is battery.

To do it right the heavy battery is down low, for center of gravity. So the Elio platform would have to be totally redone to be done right.
The Model S battery is the floorboard for good reason.
