In another thread there was a lot of discussion of music, stereo, notebooks, etc. for the Elios, so I thought a thread devoted to it would be interesting. I'm not into entertainment in a car myself but I am when I'm home and thought some things might be adaptable.

Listening to the radio or cds is rather obvious. What to me would be better is using an Ipod or mp3 player. This could be connected to the cars audio system or a portable unit using headphones. Although you would probably get better sound from the headphones you run the risk of not hearing potentially dangerous sounds around you. An Ipod saves you having to fiddle with cds and can give you a long play time plus the ability to program a custom playlist.

Now, lets see if there is any interest in continuing this thread. If so, I am willing to share some ideas on how to get better sound.

I definitely plan on hooking up my phone to the entertainment system to play music/audiobooks. Bluetooth would be preferable. I'd pay a bit extra for that, to avoid problems with tangled/broken wires, and extra wear and tear on the phone. Absolutely no interest in video players, just audio.

I am interested in the Continental unit that will cradle a cell phone. As I understand, the phone will transmit the music to the continental unit via Bluetooth which will then be played over the Elio's speakers. I know the music selection would be controlled at the cell phone, but where would the volume be controlled? Would the volume be controlled on the cell phone or on the continental unit?

They issue licenses to deaf folks.

The quip about licenses to deaf people was in reference to his comment about driving with headphones.
Actually it is illegal to drive with headphones on that cover both ears.

Interesting! I never thought of that. Is it a state law where you are or a federal law? Whichever, it sounds like a good rule to me.

Do you need a hearing aid or full view mirror while operating a motor vehicle?

If you answer yes to this question, a DMV employee will test your hearing. If your hearing is not acceptable, a restriction of "HEARING AID OR FULL-VIEW MIRROR" is added to the driver license.
