Could anybody answer a silly question? Should I assume that the Elio will
only be available in Stick Shift?

the offer a choice between a manual and automatic tranny ... the shifter for both is located to the right of the driver's seat

Bad assumption, turn right, you can ALSO get it as automatic transmission if you like.

but a permanent injury has made automatic transmission a necessity.

Welcome to the forum turnright. They have said the auto will get better mileage than the standard. Just what I've heard.

Hi and welcome from Oregon, turnright. It is always best not to assume anything. No, in all seriousness, the Elio will be available in manual and auto transmission. There are many discussions on this forum covering this subject. I hope you will take advantage and enjoy them. :-) Z
