I'm just going to throw this one out out on the floor here for anybody that might be interested. The International Manufacturing Technology Show, an every other year event, is on next month at McCormick Place in Chicago. You won't necessarily see any of Elio's suppliers directly here, what you will see are the people and companies that make the equipment and processes that will make the Elio buildable at a good price, and as a workable construct.
This show is huge; it covers ALL of McCormick Place, and they only do it every other year due to the size and logistics. If you live anywhere near Chicago, and are interested in what makes manufacturing tick, this show is worth the $65 registration fee. Allowing a couple of days is a good idea, due to the size of the show. The first time that I went, in 1972, my college class did an early in - late out bus trip there for just one day. I was on crutches due to a motorcycle accident, and I totally wore myself out; slept on the bus all the way home! If you'd like to see some of the things that NSTG8R talks about in the building of aircraft, it will be here. I can't go this year, but I will be there in 2018.
