Has anyone contacted their insurance company to compare the cost of insuring an Elio to their current vehicle?

I personally have been waiting until there is absolutely no doubt that this becomes a product and that they don't deviate too far from the design plan.
It will be less than a car; but really unknown at this time.
Insurance companies have yet to recognize the Elio as a product they have to insure because it hasn't gone into full scale production yet.
Most insurance companies know what they are, some do not; my agency has given 3 different answers any time I've asked.
And that's what you should try with your insurance company; call and ask.

I contacted my company State Farm to ask if they'd insure it. They said yes, this was more than a year ago. But alot of things have to happen before any company can say for sure that they'll insure it. Coss is right, contact your insurance company, ask them questions.
So cost is an unknown at this time. We can guess that it'll be less than a normal 4-door sedan, more than a motorcycle.

I have my Farmer's agent working on this. The autocycle is now established in MO. He is researching what Farmer's is going to do with it.

Farmers agent replied that his underwriters were aware of the pending Elio and would use existing data to develop a rate when the autocar is in production. He seemed favorable about insuraning the Elio. However, I have learned that SB 503 did not make it to a vote before the allotted time. It will be reconsidered in Jan 2017
