Moving from a test and design phase to production usually has a few Key Dates required.

1. When is the start of hiring for retooling the plant?
2. When do they start hiring and training of production personnel?
3. When do they begin initiating orders for the parts?

I'm sure there are others that might be added, but I thought this might be a good place to accumulate both the questions and the answers. Fourth quarter just seems optimistic if these aren't already done.

As far as the plant goes, I recall seeing that it will only take Comau around 90 days to setup the line and get it going. So doubt we will see any activity there till late summer, 2016.

Hiring employees probably wouldn't happen until towards the end of the line being setup. There are 45 day increments planned on getting the line up and running, employees trained, shift 2 comes along in 90 or 135 days I believe.

Actual parts to be ordered and in process is a good question. They have released the final drawings for the engine/Trans cradle, but once the 25 engineering vehicles are tested and qualified, I think things will really pick up. Quickly.

That is a very fast setup for the first run. But assuming 90 days to retool, with training taking about 45 days and hopefully final specs already in place so ordering can commence about a month out,,then we should see things really kick into gear by October.

I'd love to see the critical path plan for production startup on this site.

I'll wait 2 more months and by then we may have more to talk about!:D We may also start receiving first hand info. on the E-series build...if not the results! Exciting times ahead. And we don't even have to move a muscle! :D:cool:

There is a plan that was submitted to the SEC. You might be able to determine a critical path after looking at that. Try using the search box in the upper right on all forums, try searching on "SEC" to start.

I read where all the "kinks" will be worked out with the production of the 7012 unit.

Part of the learning process they are tacking on to the E build is that they are setting up a "mock" assembly line in Detroit; so transferring the information to Comau about the line will help them avoid a lot of problems at startup. Odds are, someone from Comau will come up to Detroit and help with this line setup.

Total speculation here, but could it be possible that some Comau reps are in Detroit right now giving input to line station set up since that's right in their wheelhouse? Wouldn't make sense to have them come up for "assembly line tips and tricks" after the fact...IMHO.

Could be, they've never said. But during the P5 reveal they said the bit about setting up a mock assembly line in Detroit; they haven't said a word about it since. Not surprising; how many would try to get in to see what was going on.

The meaning of that is kind of fuzzy. Hey, if they are going to fast build 25 E series, and the intent is to refine tooling design and methods, isn't that like a mock assembly line? It's got both more and less meaning than you might think.
