Yesterday I encountered a man standing out in front of my local Walmart handing out $20.00 bills.

It's a tradition with him. During the holidays he performs random acts of kindness. This has inspired me to find similar ways to pay it forward during the holidays.

If you have seen or heard of similar situations please pass them on. Maybe we can make a difference in someones life this holiday season.

I am a small time Industrial commercial contractor and because I get my hands and clothes dirty and ripped I look like a street person at times .About 25 years ago I needed to pick up some misc items at a hardware store when it opened .My wife waited in her new Volvo reading while I walked across the street .I waited outside for the store to open when a gentleman walked by briskly and stuffed a $20 bill in my coat pocket .I was stunned and actually didn't realize what he had done .I picked up what I need and ran back to the car telling the wife we had breakfast money .Was she pizzed to the core and explained that there was a Salvation Army kettle person down by the mall .She ordered my to deposit (yes ordered ) me to deposit the 20 and add another $20 .I approached the kind old bell ringer with $40 and she said no no you need it more than we do "God bless you ". I could never tell my wife what happened .
I'm not sure what I learned or the moral of the story other than dress a little better and I am fond of the Salvation Army and the fine work they do :D

On a much smaller scale, a friend of mine posted on Facebook a great idea. They leave a basket on the front door and label it USPS/FEDEX/UPS and leave little snacks and beverages during the Christmas holidays because those guys work so hard and such long hours. i know they get compensated for it, but still. We do all of our Christmas shopping online, so we get a lot of deliveries this time of year. i think we will incorporate this idea next year.
