I'm rather amazed at the disconnect many seem to have from the entrepreneurial spirit and process (real life problem solving, real risk taking, real reward), I find that the epitome of being screwed, as a nation. As far as Paul Elio and Elio Motors, at least they are trying to bring a great concept to market in a country that used to be the most industrious in the world. I'm still very much supportive of EM #12436.

Tesla was incorporated in 2003. They had cars on the market by 2007. Four years.

Elio was founded in 2008. They'll be on the market in 2016 at the earliest. Eight years (and counting?).

Also, Tesla didn't have the luxury of using time saving off the shelf parts. Tesla actually fabricates many of the parts in their factory from raw materials as they build the various Tesla Models. Amazing to watch their build process.
