Took this photo a couple of days ago; thought I'd put it up on here for a chuckle. This docked in town (Venice, Italy) the day I took the photo. My wife's cousin says that this thing was the darling of the yachting magazines recently and cost about $262,000,000. Lessee, that divides out to about 38,530 Elios, or most of the reserved cars...

the yacht shown in post 1 is known as Motor Yacht A .... it was built back in '08 for a Russian multi-billionaire named Andrey Melnichenko .... $300M price tag, 5500 tons, 390-feet-long

he's recently replaced it with Sailing Yacht A .... 468-feet-long, $400M

guess he's gone to a sail boat to save some money on fuel ....

Ugly is right, and fecking huge. Look at the photo again; the boat that you see midships is a motoscafi, public transport on the vaporetto routes that goes around Venice. It's placarded for about (I think) 150 passengers...

Oh, yeah. That hatch open on the port side? It's the drydock garage for the runabouts and jetskis...

EKH, that thing was tied off near one of the poorer neighborhoods in Venice. Talk about a study in contrasts...
