The Nations Gun Show tomorrow.
Two things:
I'm buying a handgun for my 19 yo son. It's his first. It will eventually be for CC (when he's old enough). He wants a 9mm. Looking at a Ruger lc9. Thoughts / comments?
Also, I'm going to get a laser site for my Taurus TCP 380. Any suggestions along this line?

There are several reasons why I wouldn't use RIP ammo. One, the name is obvious. If you use these in a self defense, some overzealous DA is going to throw the book at you because you use ammo that was meant to kill the criminal. Next, the base over penetrates the target. I would want the bullet to completely stay inside and not risk hurting someone else.

I'm confused. I was brought up that you don't point a gun at something you don't intend to kill.
If it's a choice of the scum bag or me I'm going make sure the scum bag goes down.

A friend of mine bought a laser site for one of his pistols that was built into the handle (grip). Worked great, and didn't interfere with the holster. I'll have to ask him where he got it.

The one I'm looking at is mounted in front of the trigger guard, but there are many options out there.

Go to a range and rent a bunch of 9mms. I don't like the LC9 because the trigger is very far away and it is a very long pull. Some people like that, but it doesn't fit my hand. I do enjoy my XDs. I shot a friend's Shield and it has a smooth action, but it is a long pull and something I'd have to get used to before I'd carry one.

Depends on your state's self defense language. Many are "stop the threat" but a few have "stop to kill." But again, with the over penetrating base, I don't want that to pass through the perp and hit an innocent person.

Yep! That must be what he had. NOT cheap, but pretty friggin' cool and functional design.

First, I would suggest you take him to the range and have him shoot one !! Many ranges rent guns. The lc will have a good kick even in 9mm. I added the pearson grips to my 709 and it makes a world of diffence

On lasers, I LOVE my Crimson Trace !!!
