any major repairs over 3K (transmission?, motor?) buy a new one and parts-out the rest. I'm gonna take a stab here and suggest the insurance companies will also determine the cost of repair vs replacement. I know at some future rally/nationals there will be a contest to take an E apart and put it back together!, and another competition to ride on just the front wheels!!

Seriously! How hard would it be to make a "ski" that you strapped to the rear tire of an Elio? Some studded front tires, and you have some seriously fun to watch ice races!!!

I don't even think it was brought up in the video Joeker88 did when he was talking to the EM rep.
Nor was it mentioned by anyone else that was there and posted a review on the E1C.

In the video Jermaine did say it was meant for the automatic transmission and was just in the E1-C (manual) for show.

My Dodge Grand Caravan has an ECO mode as well and it works as he describes above.

I know what an ECO mode is usually used for, but we were talking about the Elio.
I don't believe there has been any "official" explanation yet is what I was saying.
