I hope this isn't inappropriate to quote comments from Elio Motors Owners Association but this is some good stuff...

"Jerome told me that the panoramic roof option would be like Photochromic that would be clear in low light and darken in sunlight.
==
I asked Jerome about the mpg loss when installing the hot rod fenders with custom rims. He estimated around a 10 mpg difference between the two.

(It's just 4 recessed set screws, btw. Two vertical tubes on the fender slip over two smaller tubes on the frame. Then tighten 4 recessed set screws with an Allen wrench. 10 seconds per fender maybe.)

Ok, some OBD talk:
Jerome Vassallo broke into a very Cheshire Cat like smile when the subject came up. Some (rough) "quotes":
The "standard" Elio plug will be OBD-II compatible as far as diagnostics go. No special tool needed to 'check codes'. [and I assume this means it's powered] But no ~telemetry~ data (Avg MPG, speed, etc).
HOWEVER: An announcement is coming during the SEMA show in Las Vegas regarding a partner and an optional upgrade that "will make us forget all about OBD-II". (more smiling here)

Who knows what this might be, but I must admit, my curiosity is piqued.

Some other tidbits:
Me: I'll probably wind up mounting my iPad on the dash to use as my infotainment system.
Jerome: (smile) That's a good idea. ...You're going to like the announcement. (smile)
Me: Any chance of a double din radio opening?
Jerome: you won't need it. (mischievous grin)
Me: Anything else you wanna say voluntarily, on the record, before I beat the information out of you?
Jerome: YOU are really going to like the announcement, Leon. (Infuriating amount of smiling here)

The man's lucky he still has teeth.

It's a nice smile. I couldn't bring myself to ruin it.
Although, that's always an option after the announcement. I hope, for his sake, I like it. ;D"

Thanks for posting, Jambe. I, for one, don't mind learning from other sites. :-) Z

Hi and welcome from Oregon, Tom_M. I am so glad you had great weather. We have been having heavy rain and winds all day on the other side of the country. I saw the Elio in Portland in July and loved it even more than before I saw it. If you have already reserved at any level we have a Reservation Map & Survey on the Reservation forum for you to fill out so a marker can be placed on our map. The next release of numbers for those with $1,000 all in reservations is supposed to be the end of this month. :-) Z

I happened to be involved in this very conversation along with Jerome and Leon and they definitely have something pretty big up their sleeves. Jerome had a huge grin on his face as he was telling us this information. He said we should hear about it pretty early during SEMA, the first day or two.

Leon, Jerome, and Hector. :)

"Where did Jerome say it would be expensive?

"He said it directly to me.

"Jerome Vassallo- "He" did not quote "that it would be expensive". "He" did quote that the architecture would allow people to add as they see fit. We also talked about a total solution, and that 'expensive' is a relative term.
...Apology...
"Jerome Vassallo- No worries bud. Just want readers to have accurate info. This announcement will be Huge!!!

"Jerome Vassallo- It will happen at SEMA. Knowing how hard it is to not talk about, it will be on the first day; November 4th!!
