No wonder it was knocked off so easily by the manhole cover sticking up, I sure hope they move it!

I hope the production model has better protection than this indicates. No wonder the exposed manhole wiped it out. LOL :-) Z

Just read in a comment that this is the replacement muffler, the original was larger and further back. But yeah, it seriously needs to be flush with the bottom.

When I first saw this CAD drawing I asked Elio if the exhaust would be as drawn, they replied, no and their engineers were redesigning it for better ground clearance and airflow.

Looks like the only way to move it would be to hump up the frame and I don't think that's going to happen. Will have to be after market. JMO

Who ever said mufflers and tail pipe had to be round?? What would be the drawback of having a rectangular exhaust, say 1" x 4" for the pipe, that should move enough exhaust with providing a bit more ground clearance.

I remember the pipes from my old Corvette ran thru the transmission crossmember. Was alot of fun changing the exhaust pipes. I ended up putting on Hooker sidemount exhausts, which really looked fine - Sidemounts would look pretty good on the Elio too -

My guess is, the muffler will be located on the car, somewhere between the tail pipe and catalytic converter, after the exhaust manifold. Just guessing here.
