Edit: Wait a minute! I'd rather drive anywhere west of the Mississippi compared to anywhere east of the Mississippi. Unless I am just sightseeing. (Ex long haul driver.)
Oh, good point. I put my trip from Arvada, CO to Chicago, IL for a wedding out of my mind. I-80 through Nebraska, Iowa and 99% of Illinois. Man! That's A LOT of cattle and corn! For that matter, since I've lived in MO, I've made three trips up to Chicago for 'entertainment' reasons. Definitely no treat for the eyes there. Pacific, MO is considered "The Gateway to the Ozarks". And I must say, from where I'm at and heading south and southwest, there are noticeable elevation changes and nice curvy roads which does break up the monotony of long trips.
[Looks like I'm not making friends in the surrounding states ...But Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas are cool! ]
Over the last six months I have made several trips between St Louis and Poplar Bluff, MO a couple hours drive south. That trip heads due south bordering the Ozarks so, as you mentioned, it includes elevation changes and roads with curves which makes for a nice trip. This was an especially nice drive in the fall when the leaves were changing color. I am actually scheduled to make the drive again in a few weeks.
Give me a holler if you think you'll have some free/down time! First beverage is on me.
I will try and plan my trip for some extra evenings in St Louis so hopefully we can meet up.
hope you can link up, you will have a great time .... Hector, if he offers to take you trap shooting, BEWARE .... you've heard of a pool hustler, he's one on the trap range .... he only needs one pellet in his shotgun shell
I know this thread is "No Speed limit"; so how about some cars that need that kind of road
Good sense of humor
