Hadn't thought of that! If someone makes a semi attractive mounting system you might could put some luggage there as well.

Considering the door being on the right side - - WHY? Why not have the door on the left side, instead. From a safety view point, especially when parallel parking, the occupants would exit on the sidewalk curb side. Thus eliminating any chance of rear oncoming traffic hitting exiting occupants, especially when there is no rear window on the Elio. Just a thought.

Elio had a choice to make and they decided to pick the Left side since it is the side most people are used to in entering a car in the US for the driver.

As far as a blind spot Roger Wildermuth posted this: "Here is a picture from Tampa of one of the Elio Road Crew (hand at shoulder, in blue shirt), standing directly behind (touching, <1") the Elio. As you can see, it would be near impossible for even a guy on a bicycle to approach from the rear... unobserved. Rear window is useless, and adds weight and expense. Anyway, a rear window would be BLOCKED by the Driver's head, and/or the rear seat headrest."
