Wiz, for what it's worth.
I believe some are putting too much thought into the dangers of 'Pot Holes'. Now days there are not as many as there were 10/20/30 years ago.
Over time I've driven/ridden from Key West to Maryland, Canada, the Dakotas, the 'Big Ditch', down to Las Cruses, across Texas and back home to Ga. and have not found pot holes to be a problem. If you just don't follow too close you will have time to avoid the problem.
A pot hole may have saved my life, one time. I was the last bike off St. George Island, Fla. late one night, (early AM), had a sick rider, (food poisoning), left him in a clinic. We put his bike in a trailer, headed back to Mexico Beach to a rental house. As we came into Mexico beach, I truly believe I went to sleep while riding the Harley, I hit a pot hole and woke up, not remembering the last 10 or so miles.
Rather than 'Pot Holes', we should put more thought into Head Lights for night time driving/riding. In the day time we can see very well but at night we have a very limited view of the road ahead. The 'tunnel' of light does not give us a good view of anything coming from the side of the road, deer/dog/wild hog. Heaven forbid hitting a HOG, would be like hitting a stack of concrete block in the road.
I hit a deer, one night a long time ago, coming back home, while driving a Datson 260Z, near tore the front end Off, was able to drive it on home, running HOT when I got there. had to replace the hood, radiator, both headlight shrouds, bumper, etc.
I have no fear of pot holes, deer/hogs/etc can and will mess you and your Elio UP.
Think, Head Lights!!!!!!!
