interesting link to an Interactive Map showing gas taxes by state

I can assure you that this quote comes a no surprise to those of us who live in NC : "People in North Carolina pay the highest in state and federal gas taxes, at 57.55 cents per gallon. Georgians pay the lowest, at 25.9 cents per gallon."

I'll bet there's more than one person that hops the border there to fill up! I know I would if it was convenient.

we often recommend our friends who are traveling though the state to fill up prior to crossing into NC ... its also the reason that we put as little fuel as possible in our Sportchassis while in state

If you live at the border, yes, otherwise you're spending more on gas to cross than you save in price. I must say that NC has excellent roads unlike the states surrounding it... I'm thinking one of one specific South Carolina I-95 bridge where you repeatedly go from banging your head on the roof to bottoming out the shocks.

earlier this morning in Fenton, MO where we are currently camped, we took on diesel fuel for $2.349 a gallon that is the lowest we have paid for fuel since back in '08 .... our daughter-in-law told us about the station in an area where they must be having a bit of a gas war .... the price for fuel throughout most of the rest of the area has been around $2.599 .... when purchasing 58 gallons like we did this morning, 25 cents a gallon starts to add up ..

.. in addition, its been a while since I've seen diesel priced below gasoline

We do this here; Oregon doesn't have sale tax, Washington does; besides the state and Federal tax, WA adds sales tax to everything except unprepared food. In SW WA the sales tax is 8.4% in Seattle it's 9.6% so add that to the 55.6 in tax and a gallon of gas is right up there. OR no sales tax, and by law they have to pump it in; getting out of the car to pump your own is a no-no

Big appliance (washer and dryer, fridge, etc.) and the trip is well worth it.
Smokes, in OR a carton is $51, in WA that same carton is $97.

Even though NH does not have a sales tax, it seems they have a gas tax.
