While I generally oppose public money (TAX) being used loans backed loans are a different issue.

With BigCorp killing private research and investment (and payrolls) to enrich their mgmt and investors, Federal govt spending on research, science, loan guarantees, etc is the innovative engine driving the future. Fed's return on investments, interests on loans, is well positive. And the Federal "winner- picking" success rate is well above private rate. If the Feds "pick" Elio to be a "winner" with a loan or loan guarante, chances are very good Elio will be winner.

Not really pretty much anything they do is a failure. And the cash is just pocketed . Unlikely FEDs will pick ELIo . PE is not on their list of the right kind of people.

This one is pretty perky -- they're building the P5 with the production drive train. Which says something that has NOT been discussed publicly, so far as I know -- the first engine must have passed its testing with flying colors. We haven't heard a word about engine design tweaks based on IAV test results ... basically nothing since the demo film of the engine running at slightly above spec horsepower.

Are they taking the one existing engine for the P5? Meaning, they did not run it to destruction as planned? Or are they starting to build all 25? Or just one more copy of the extant engine?

All of this suggests that there is SOME money, somewhere. Apparently, the "everyman's equity" investment program launched a few months back is funding the prototype. But no news on sales of surplus equipment or other major cash inflows.

Something is slithering beneath the oily surface waters -- but if it's a sea monster, shark, or just turbulence is a mystery.

Any ideas?
I was under the impression that although many articles about Elio ( that are not official releases) always talk about surplus equipment needing to be sold, but as I understood it, that happened long ago. I remember they hired a whiz to be in charge of that. Maybe they have sold some but have more they need to sell.

apparently I posted my reply to the wrong comment. God help me. It was meant to reply to a post that talked about equipment sales and if I dare try to edit , delete or other wise mess with it further....who knows what I could do. sincerely, keith-the great communicator

There's no guarantees in life and even fewer in starting a company, but Elio Motors is certainly on the DoE's list of their kind of company which is why they are at the due diligence stage. They would have been shut out otherwise.

For shits an giggles I'll also point out, Aloca was in their due diligence phase at the end of May last year, they were the first to be approved for an ATVM loan this past March. Elio was in the due diligence stage last October.

Seriously, just put your finger across the middle of those two boxes. They are the same color.
