The accessories will be installed at the marshaling centers. Look at the Shreveport plant as the assembly plant and the marshaling centers as the "finishing part of the assembly line" and you'll be about right.I guess I am confused. Are the accessory/options being installed at the Shreveport factory or at the the Marshaling locations? Paul states that orders will be taken until 9pm and then they build until midnight and ship out for next day delivery. I was also wondering if Pep Boys will have accessory/options that an owner could add at a later date after taking delivery and installed by Pep Boys?
it was my understanding that Shreveport plant would maintain a separate marshaling center continually. I mean, why not?Yes, the options will be installed at the marshaling centers. But for awhile, the Shreveport factory will also serve as a marshaling center too. So until the marshaling centers get established, equipped and employees at them are ready to go, Shreveport is where the options will be installed. One would think there'd be some time of overlap between when the marshaling centers are up and running, and Shreveport stops installing options.
The end goal is to have Shreveport create 7 colors x 2 transmissions, disperse them to the marshaling centers.
For Pep Boys installing options, I believe the answer is yes, eventually. I think the scenario went something like: I've order an Elio with leather seats and cruise control. I have it for 5 months, and then I think MAN, I really want a front chin spoiler. I believe Pep Boys is where I'd go to get it done.

Our engine plant is based in Shreveport so its a short haulwhile EM's plans can certainly be subject to change, from what I understand when production begins they intend to have a marshaling and delivery center at the factory .... it will be used to install options and provide a place for people who which to come to the factor to pick up their Elio .... in addition, it will served as a place where they can refine all aspects of the process that will be taking place at the marshaling centers along with the training necessary for the people that will work at those centers ..... its unclear how long it will take to get all of the other marshaling centers and sales outlets into operation .... a decision as to how extensive (if any) segments of a marshaling center will be maintained at the factory once the others are in operation

That is still under debate, I believe. It seems you should not have to pay the delivery charge but some on here believe that everyone will pay it and you may just be subsidizing someone getting theirs from a big distance. If someone picks up their car in Shreveport do they save paying the delivery charge?

Not cool !By that logic every one who wants the standard transmission should pay for the automatic to subsidize the ones who want it.
it doesn't pay to get worked up about something that hasn't been decided .... nor on something that once decided is beyond one's ability to change
