So on the way to work this morning, the lady in front of me made a hard stop. I stopped behind her, just in time to avoid an accident. The guy behind me in the big red pickup truck? Not so lucky. He was lollygagging at the semi that was pulled over on the side of the road with the cab lifted up to check out the engine. And ... crunch. Bashed in the back bumper on the driver's side, scrunching up the let rear quarter panel.

Dislike that story Rob, sorry to hear that. What model of Saturn is it? I had an '02 SL2 for a few years.

It is a 2004 L300. 120k miles. The body shop says that State Farm (the other driver's insurance company) mandates a part-by-part list of all parts required to do the repair, so they can shop around for the cheapest price for each part. I should have the quote some time today.

No one was hurt, and no one was angry or raging. It was all pretty polite.

The rental I got is a 2014 Nissan Sentra. Not a bad car. On the way to work this morning, a 42 mile mix of country highway/Interstate highway, I got just under 45 MPG. :) The dashboard display has a really nice display of instantaneous vs. average MPG, to gently prod you into better driving habits.

It's not looking good for my car... State Farm requested a vehicle inspection report from the auto shop. A quick kbb.com search shows that the repair quote exceeds the private sale value of the car by several hundred dollars. :(

you are the injured party and no insurance company wants to go to court .... you can press to get a settlement that you feel is equitable .... are you sure you haven't suffered any injuries or losses that need to be brought to their attention
