I would like to see them be able to drop a turbo charger in if desired as the car goes down the assembly line. I think that was in the realm of possibility if I remember the turbo threads. Which said there was a place in the plant reserved for their construction and that the engine could facilitate the mounting of one.

I believe adding a turbo would require more than just "bolting on the turbo." Most applications require lower compression. That means different pistons, different exhaust components, different intake components and a different CPU/ECM.

And 'bolt-on' could mean anything too, all that stuff is also bolt-on. Oh yea, and some disassembly required! If that's the case, it probably would be cheaper to sell your Elio used and get a new one with the turbo, or another used one already with the turbo). Hmm, you know I wouldn't get the used turbo if it existed, just get a new one, I mean, if there were a used Turbo Elio, what was it used for? Do ya think they would be real gental with it? -nope-

Now on the other hand, an electric rear power bost drive, only takes a new alternator plus the EV hardware and you have all wheel racing nailed, maybe even adds a hyper-econo mode. That upgrade would likely be very transferable to a new Elio, should the original bite the dust.

Econo-mode on an Elio?

With Elio's aerodynamics, you just know someone's eventually going to have the bright idea to add wings or a rotor to this:
