My overall concern, is when, not if, -a "stock" Elio(s) have serious accident(s).( i.e. not sure how it affected sales, but a former President tripping over the Segway, did nothing to increase acceptance.)
The public is accepting of motorcycle crashes/deaths,
However, this "new" concept vehicle in a dramatic accident- read blood and gore, a fire with a kid trapped in the rear, will sadly have national negative news and dramatically affect sales, and value
Safety doesn't stop Harley Davidson from selling 250,000 motorcycles per year. It shouldn't stop EM from respectable sales. We all know the Elio is not automobile safe, but certainly safer than a typical motorcycle. Perhaps 50% of the current MC buyers will switch over to the much safer Elio or Arcimoto everyday electric. Makes good sense to me.

Why won't it be automobile safe?

never get a 5 star rating vs, cars, can however boast a 10 star rating compared to motorcycles!
RE: Harley riders, sure there will be E buyers, and other big bike buyers, I can't see enough baling on their H D's, they'd die in the saddle, before being laughed off the road+++ Hey but that's just me. 50 yrs, 3 x suddenly not on two wheels and a few broken bones later, I'm so looking forward to this E experience!! I know it'll never replace a bike, as my knees keep reminding me!
Wishing us all the best, as we look forward to the 4th quarter of THIS year (maybe) @73 I stopped buying green bananas :-)

We don't actually know that at all. The Elio will certainly be safer than many, perhaps even most - if we are to believe what EM has been saying for years. Just HOW safewe won't know until the test results are in. As of now, we don't really know anything.

Looking at the frame structure and crumple zones (extended in the P5), I think the occupants would be as safe in frontal and rear end collisions as most cars. T-bone square in the door is bad news no matter what you're in, but it 'looks like to me' that if you had a side impact forward, or aft of the door, and if the side curtains deployed like they're supposed to, you 'might' actually fair better than if you were in side-by-side seating since you wouldn't go flying across to the passenger seat. But you're right, "we/I don't really know anything" until the results are in.
