I wonder...couldn't Costco operate as a sales point + marshalling center? They could have racks of Elios stacked to the ceiling, and just pull one down with a forklift and plug on the options right then and there. That'd be a sight to see!

Yeah! And Elios aren't very big, so maybe we can take a test drive through the aisles. :car:

I think folks shopping in Costco are getting a better price and quality,
Also, a few Fla stores always had new cars ( no sales people) to check out the model and price,( i think putting a model in front of a Costco will generate more interest than barn-storming around the states. In many malls, cars are displayed near the entrances which too draws a lot of attention, especially exotic/expensive machines

That will be the EM approach too. Saturn as I recall, gave it a spin. Single woman loved shopping there. One of the big used companies- Car Max? have fixed price.
My wife and I bought several Saturns. At least five. It was a very pleasant experience. You never walked out feeling like you were being "worked", or had any high-pressure "get it now, it might not be here tomorrow" kind of thing.

Although, if you know how dealers make money, you can really work some good deals. One of the best tricks is to act like you want to finance it through the dealer and then pay cash as soon as the contract is signed*. They're often willing to take a loss up front if they think they'll make it back in financing.

* but be sure to read the contract carefully. Sometimes they try to sneak in crap like early payment penalty clauses.

add buying it at the end of the month, when they're eager to meet monthly quotas.

The "non dealership" model would certainly put an end to one practice: the pile of dealer add ons on a popular model. When the retro T-bird was new, I was in at the local Ford / Mazda dealer to pick up oil filters for my Miata. The T-bird on the showroom floor had about $3000 in dealer "add-ons" like floor mats, paint sealer, etc. I realize that they have to make a profit, but Good Lord...
