I suspect it is impossible for a three wheel vehicle to get a five star rating because the tests are designed for four wheel vehicles. All they can do is pass all applicable tests.

There is currently no test protocols for tandem-seated three wheelers, but Elio is giving it their best shot at developing a protocol that will:
A) replicate the automotive tests to as close as possible, and
B) demonstrate real-world crashing scenarios the Elio will need to handle.
They have a lot of good PR to gain by coming back with convincing safety test results.

Hi M.C.,
By incentives to register/upgrade, if you mean the 25% bonus being increased, who knows. In the past, the 50% bonus was removed completely, then made available again some months later. Just recently the 50% was reduced to 25%, with no known end to the 25%.
So there's lots of possibilities:
- 25% could remain until the start of production, and it's unknown when that will be
- 25% could be increased again to 50% for a limited time
- 25% could go away sometime before the start of production, but EM probably will give a month's notice or more
- whether 25% remains or not, there could be some other sort of incentive to make a reservation, such as 50% off your first option if you get at least $750 in total options (I'm making this up as I go
)
