This is a good read about the future of the auto industry. I believe that Elio has a place in the future auto industry.

Adding to the above:
I noticed last night that Subaru, Ford, and the Chevy Cruse each had 0% purchases available. Does this mean that there is a flood of unsold cars that they want to move? Would a flood of newly sold cars at 0% effect Elio sales in 2017 or 2018?

This article is interesting. But even still, it ignores the reality that a lot of people face. They are calling a car that *starts* at $35,000 for the cheapest version as "truly affordable". $35k has become the new "affordable" car? That's just stupid. Not only that, but Tesla has already stated that they don't plan on actually making any of those base models for a long time. You probably won't be able to get one until 2020, at the earliest, assuming Tesla actually start shipping in late 2017.

Let's go Elio! The US needs a car that the Everyman can afford.

It's true just a few short years back, you could buy a New cat for 12k to 15k. Not anymore. Before that it was 5k to 7k. For a Nice car! Now you'd need to pay 25k to 50k for one.
This Elio WILL change the way we all look at buying a car. If this can be made for less than 10k? The industry will have to sit up and take notice!!!

I just looked at my local used car ads. The used cars closest to $7,000 were cars that were 7-10 years old and who knows how many miles on them. Even sub-$20,000 (new) cars need at least 4-6 years on them to get below $7,000.

Elio is a groundbreaking vehicle for this and many other reasons. If Paul pulls it off, he'll be a chapter instead of a footnote in automotive history books.

The Elio, SRK, and Solo are not intended to replace the family car, but supplement it with a more affordable commuter driving experience designed for essentially a single occupant driver. Designed to get you to and from work and around town at minimal expense. It won't have much impact on the auto industry in terms of new cars, but will rather greatly impact the used car market. These startups all have the potential to get a groundbreaking vehicle to market. I would sure like to see one succeed before I get to old to drive and forced to rely on Uber's fleet of autonomous electric Elio's as my source of transportation.
