I live in Scottsdale and Elio is based in Phoenix. Does anyone know if they have one available to view in Phoenix? I hope the first ones off the line will go to Pep Boys all over the country so the public will have a chance to see what they can buy.

luckylu,
I would guess most likely not. They tour the country with P4 and P5, and are on the road much of the year. I live near Chicago and due to work interference, I had to wait two years to see P5.

I'm kind of guessing that you're very new to the Elio.
The Elio is not like your normal cars in the way they're sold; there are no dealerships; it's a factory direct purchase.
There will be Retail Centers for it; and Marshalling Centers by region. You find most of the basic information to start, for to the Elio Motors Website and read the beginner basics; then come back here and you will find pretty much more information about the Elio than you can anywhere else.
We have a great Search function for this site; and if you can't find it that way, jump into any active thread that comes close to what you have a question about.
Elio Owners Forum is not affiliated directly to Elio Motors.

Yeah I'm pretty new to Elio but I have gone over the site many times, watched every YouTube video, read Facebook posts and researched the stock and read everything I could find online.. I understand how they are to be sold and I was not looking for a store in Phoenix but because the headquarter is in Phoenix I was just wondering if they had a proto at their office that was available to view. Mostly what I've read from posts over the years is why there will never be a production Elio. I see they have overcome one obstacle after another and I hope they realize Paul's dream.

I can't remember if this has been discussed before, but if so it won't be the first time someone repeated something on this forum...

As my wife and I walked through Katy Mills Mall the other day I couldn't help but notice the large number of new cars on display in the common areas. In all cases there was no one in attendance with these cars. Usually it was just setting there with the price sticker in the window. I can only assume this type of advertising works... why else would so many dealers do it?

Now we come to the Elio. Here's my idea, for what it's worth.

1. When production starts build 100 Elios for display only. They don't even have to have an engine, transmission, etc. They just need to "look" like an Elio.

2. Make a deal to place them in 100 of the most trafficed malls in the country.

3. Place one of those fancy electronic information signs by the car with all the specs and a slick video of drivers with big grins on their faces.

4. Sit back and watch the public awareness grow by leaps and bounds and the orders come rolling in.

At least now I know you've got some of the basics down. The Phoenix address is more of just a mail stop than the Headquarters; Paul Elio lives in Phoenix; lately I think they've been doing a lot of the "meeting of the minds" in Detroit; that's where the E-Series (E = Engineering, not Electric) is being built. I believe address for the 25 builds is 34005 Autry St. Livonia, MI..
Then every thing moves to Shreveport, LA; that's where the factory is located.

That help?

Elio Motors only employs 25 people; that does include the Tour Group / Marketing people which is 5 to 8 people depending on where the show is.

The easiest way to see, touch and sit in an Elio is one of the tour stops; we normally post them here, but you can always find them on the EM site.

That's pretty much what the Retail Centers will be; one there to see, and a small store front that will have different accessories on display along with different Kiosks for you to order your Elio at. There will be people there to help you place your order, and do your paperwork.
Then depending on the accessories you order, you'll have your Elio the next day. With certain accessories it may be 2 to 4 days (like for wraps).

# That is a Great idea. I would suggest instead of the 100 builds, make a pressed fiberglass outer design like a hot tub in reverse . This would show scale and cheaply achievable in a large scale. I would even set it up in the local malls in my area free. Just send me the shell. The brochures are already made.

I think that is a good idea. An innovative company should try to be innovative, anyway, who wants to watch a hundred ELIO commercials interrupting their favorite TV show besides us ?

Thanks for your responses to my idea. A couple of things.... I don't suggest these replace the retail centers. In fact, if the mall has a retail center I don't think it will need one of these. The electronic information sign is just a way to provide info without the expense of a live person. Anyone who is seriously interested will pursue things further.

As to the pressed fiberglass mock up, there is no substitute for the real thing. :p
