Atvm Loan Requirement Changes

From what I've read, the loan is an absolute must to get production started.
How long ago was whatever it was (article, video discussion, hearsay) that you heard that?
Things have been changing so fast over the last 6 months that anything before that is subject to change.

The only absolute must is that Elio Motors needs on the order of $200M to get to full production and distribution. How and what source they get those funds from are open questions, and Paul has always said the ATVM loan is one, but not the only, possible source of that money.

I'm sure Paul has said in the past that the loan was NOT a necessity but it WOULD make life easier :D
(I'm paraphrasing of course)

I did not know that

Agreed.
The other point is, the loan does not go to EM; it goes to vendors.

I did not know that either

This is what i thought too...

So the ATVM is not necessary?

Does lack of a loan necessitate another delay?

Is there actually a time frame to receive an answer for said loan?

I hope the loan is given but have little faith that government will do the right thing. Fore some reason they are in love with electric cars for the very rich. IMO an 84 MPG car at $7300.00 would have much more impact than the Model S ever could have.

Guess I didn't keep up with the loan thing very well. I thought that after Elio hit the 65,000 sign up mark that the loan would be a done deal. If they don't get the loan the best we can hope for is another long delay, or the worst is no cars at all. But I'm sure everything will be fine, after all, they are dealing with the government. :frusty:

There is no date or end by for the 65K, so the "you get the loan" does not apply.
EM has never said what the 65,000 was for, the commitment was something EM and the DOE people worked out.
