I went out this morning and hit the hole with a decent size dremel grinder till the broken bolt bits broke out of the original threads. They didn't look damaged so I put thread locker on the new bolt and it is in. Now I am torqueing it into oblivion so the next it comes off is in the shredder at the recycling facility

Nooooooo Don't overtighten it; well unless you feel like doing it all over again. The Loctite and the normal torque is all you need.

Grade 8 I think was the cheapie bolt that snapped. The factory bolt is 10 or 12 and I could tell a huge difference in density and strength.

I torqued a very large bolt with loctite, to as far as it would go and there is no side play from the shock absorber.

Call it good and leave it alone

Maybe check it again in 300 to 500 miles. Just check, don't overtighten.
