Hi Kansans, Bill here with S/N 4688 that I put down money on over 2 years ago. I'm really excited about all the advancements and improvements in the design of the Elio with more to come I'm sure in this stage of the process. I'm in Wichita and as far as I know I have the lowest S/N in Wichita. Alas, Pepboys left town a few years ago. I'm wondering if I can go pick up my Elio at the factory, anyone know?

You can but just not yet... LOL. Hey, Paul Elio has said that factory pick up was going to be available to us. I don't know if they'll stop allowing that at some point but the plan right now is to allow us to go pick up our Elios there. Maybe we'll even have the opportunity to watch it come off the line.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Planning a trip on the Texas Eagle to go pick up my Elio! Welcome!
Amtrak? How much and how long does that take?

I love train travel, but it's so expensive now (and as long as you're not in a hurry) that's it tough to just go tour on one.
I've ridden the Empire Builder a couple of times; and went up to Calgary just to catch the train back to the West Coast. Beautiful trip.

Welcome from The Evergreen State. Ya must have put your $ down a lot earlier than a few years ago with your (wonderful) low number?

Coss,
Eighteen hours and about $280 for a roomette, from Chicago to Longview, Texas. If you want to do a coach seat, it can be done for about $100 one way. From Longview, you can take an Amtrak bus to either the airport or the bus station in Shreveport. I did a round trip on the Eagle last November to visit friends in Texas. Weather and track work in Illinois played hob with the schedule, but I still enjoyed the trip. I tucked into the roomette with a good book, a small bottle of Makers Mark and a thermos of ice. :p Another nice thing about the roomette is your meals in the diner are included. My wife and I have seriously discussed the Empire Builder from Chicago going west, with a stay at Glacier National Park, and maybe then the Coast Starlight to LA and then fly home from there. My friend in Texas and his wife have done the Coast Starlight, and loved it. There's a lounge on there for the sleeper passengers that shows movies in the evening. (There's a 10% discount for over 62 as well.)

That's not bad at all; since it's a roomette, even better. :thumb:

Hey Bill, fellow Kansan here! Currently reside in northwest KS, north of Hays 60 mi and east 30 mi. I have lived in Hays, and in small towns in northeast KS.

Yeah as far as we know, we early reservationists like yourself will get our vehicle from the plant. There may be an option to get your vehicle delivered, but we have no specifics on that, just the occasional statement from a tour employee and some common sense guesses from us on this forum.
