Hmmm....is there more than one red P5? I made a point of checking out the engine compartment (everything was there) and asking a ELIO rep if the P5 was street legal and he said "it is and is in full running order and is very close to the E1".

People have reported that the P5 did not appear to have a drive train in it at the L.A. show.
They concluded this from observing that the drive shafts were not connected to anything.
One person said that the P5 was covered until EM was told that they had to show it.
One also said that EM never raised the hood on the P5 during the show.
That's one of those that you have to ask EM about.
That was a big selling point when it was revealed at last year's show.

Would they have had enough time between CT and L.A. to take it out of the P5 and put it in the E1-C?

Looks like it might be a pain to replace the alternator.
Maybe 5 to 8 years after the warranty is up in 3 years.
I don't think there is any need to worry about how easy or hard it's going to be to change out or to have to repair any number of things on a brand new car (ok, AutoCycle).
Now if you planning on upgrading it, after the warranty so you don't void it; taking off the plate under the motor and changing it from the bottom may be the best way to do it.
