Hey CE, true logic works for me, arguments don't.
I felt OtB has put up the best points so far.
And your post <#25> (enhanced by using a Tire Rack article) was very good.

I just wanted the tone to kick down a notch before it got to a name calling brawl.

Also, a lot of those "Giant balloon tires" have tread similar to the back tires on large John Deere farm tractors.

No basis for comparison.
Yes, and they give you ground clearance in feet not inches. My friends had regular super thick snow/mud type treads so it was street legal. Should have taken pictures, it was an awesome looking beast .

It does seem like the tires have gotten skinnier on each prototype model. I am guessing it could be a combination of less cost on the tires because they are smaller/narrower and better MPG with less rolling resistance. I like a wider tire for traction in cornering and I think it looks better. I will be going with the open fender look and wider tires. I am not too concerned with MPG. I just hate that it will be some time in 2018!

I do not have a problem with narrow tires on my 84 mpg Elio. Front wheel drive the front two will be the power pulling two tires. The rear will be the trailing/follower/stabilizer. Narrow will cut through the snow, traction will be where it compacts snow under the tire footprint left in the snow. The will do some drivability testing in all weather, I would surely suspect any problems would be addresses and corrected. AT 1240 lbs the Elio should pass through snow cleared roads easily. We all know there are limitations to everything. The Elio is not a snow plow. There will be a lot of trial and error on extreme snow roads, keep a collapsible shovel in those adventurous snow Elio and some wood, kitty litter for traction and a tow rope. Not to forget we have a excellent engineering team with Elio motors! Hoorah Team Elio :D thank you Paul Elio :D we are almost there ! Cheers to all my Elio Friends :D
Have a Happy New year

I had a 47 willys jeep with very skinny tires if I remember right they were about 150s or so. It went very good in the snow because the tires actually sank down to the road. I have no problem skinny tires, I am also sure that Continental has done their due diligence to get it all right.

How will it do in the snow/bad weather?

The Elio will do well in all kinds of weather! The front engine, low center of gravity, front wheel drive and ABS will create some great traction action to help pull the Elio through the snow or other bad weather. Word of caution though, we are not a 4-wheel drive urban assault vehicle, so if there are 5' snow drifts, stay home and wait until the plows come through!

I think you should skip the Elio and get a urban assault vehicle, and perhaps you can get a job telling us Elio owners when its safe to drive to work.
You know, that might not be a bad idea- the urban assault vehicle. The more they tweak/change/ruin this Elio, I am liking it less and less.
