We do have other members from across Canada that also have their reservations in.
Getting it across the boarder is something you may want to talk to them about if you do have plans for putting in a reservation.
Hello from Illinois! I wish to drive my Elio from Chicago to Ottawa so I contacted the Canadian Consulate in Chicago. They referred me to a website that listed the cars that can be imported into Canada. Elio was not on the list so I cannot drive it to Canada until Elio has been approved for import. Other Canadians have said that they had contacted their MP. Contact your MP. I also have suggested that Elio Owners start a Canada forum. These import problems and access to Canada more than justify a Canada Forum. Maybe we could have an Elio convention at Lake Louise! Until then, keep the beer cold and the girls warm!

I'm married to a Canadian (16 yrs now ) and her accent slips out at times; she still swears that I say garage and roof wrong.

She originally from Hamilton

I have no knowledge of Canada's import requirements, but it seems unlikely a vehicle can be approved for import before it's actually in production.

I lived just north of Canada .Spent your Thanksgiving at Niagara falls and was treated very well .Spent our 4th of July in Quebec city treated very well .Raised by wet backs from Nova Scotia treated very well .Married in Edmundston NB and I've been abused for 50 years .

Canada has a different crash test requirement .I've sold a couple Corvettes to my Canadian friends that required some body shop modifications to the front frame .Not a big thing but a pain in the azz .I would think that Elio would work on exports a couple of years after full production .
AND who knows what will happen to NAFTA

Excellent, another good reason to have a Canada forum. During my aforementioned research, I started digging by using the Google search argument: Canadian automobile import laws . Google still remembers that I used https://www.canada.ca/en/services/transport/road/importing-vehicle.html
https://www.riv.ca/ImportingAVehicle.aspx
Additional hits:
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/motorvehiclesafety/safevehicles-importation-usa-index-445.htm
I usually limit my research to just government websites so be aware that the following website is commercial. Caveat emptor.

I've contacted my MP and Minister to Transport (Garneau) about making changes to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA) about making changes along the lines of the US Senators proposal S. 685. You should do likewise in your province. I attached a PDF of S. 685 just in case they didn't have a copy handy... Reach out to me if you need a copy of my letters. edj1867@icloud.com
