Elio Motors Momentum v93

The average daily commute for American workers is both time-consuming and expensive. Approximately 76% of American workers drive to work alone and spend an average of 26 minutes slogging their way through traffic to their destinations. Additionally, a CNN article found that the average American spends $2,600 annually on their commute. We believe that the Elio can make a meaningful difference in the way American workers commute and save commuters both time and money.

Saving Time

Cruising past traffic in the HOV lane can save commuters an invaluable amount of time and frustration. Because the Elio will be registered as either an autocycle or a motorcycle, it will allow Elio drivers to use the HOV lane without a passenger. As the average commuter spends about 42 hours a year sitting in traffic, often when driving to work alone, utilizing the HOV lane can save Elio owners a significant amount of time.

Obvious Savings

Outside of our unique configuration and sleek design, our ultra-low base price and superior fuel efficiency are likely the two most buzzworthy aspects of our vehicle. This combination can result in serious savings for commuters. According to Kelly Blue Book, the average price of a new car has risen to an eye-popping $34,000. With our base price alone, we offer an alternative for commuters at an unrivaled price.

Additionally, even during periods of relatively inexpensive gasoline, our extraordinary fuel economy can further save commuters their hard-earned money. The average American drives approximately 13,500 miles each year. If these commuters are commuting in a clunker that gets a paltry 18 MPG per gallon and gasoline is $2.50 a gallon, they are spending $1,875 per year on gas. In an Elio, at up to 84 MPG, the same number of miles driven will cost about $400. Elio owners can save approximately $1,500 a year on gasoline costs alone.

Less Obvious Savings

New car costs have priced the average American out of the market, which often means that commuters need to settle on a used car purchase or continue to commute in their clunkers. In addition to our low base price, we offer a 3-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Our warranty provides peace of mind that the Elio is is dependable and reliable.

Also, we anticipate that the Elio will be very inexpensive to insure. We are currently working behind the scenes with insurance companies to ensure that they will know how to properly insure the Elio, and based on our conversations we are confident that insurance costs will be low. We base this confidence on our low base price, the fact that the Elio is engineered to the highest safety standards, and low replacement part costs.

We believe that our vehicle will make a meaningful impact for commuters. Each year, Americans waste an incredible amount of time idling in traffic and spend a remarkable amount of money in the process. With our HOV lane eligibility, low base price, unparalleled fuel efficiency, warranty, and safety standards, we can save commuters a considerable amount of time and money.

I think they intended to get stuck on 39, but the blog guy is dyslexic. :p

Misnumbering aside, it's another filler blog. Not that I was expecting anything different.
Still, it's a nice summary of why I personally like the concept. Efficient, reliable and affordable transportation at a time when it's least available. That low initial cost is critical as it means there's no buy in penalty for high efficiency like you see in hybrids and electrics. I'm as convinced as ever that it should sell amazingly well, if it can get to market.
