I am headed for the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, and British Columbia on my way to Alaska beginning Monday May 29th from Beloit, Wisconsin. My return route will be from Alaska through Canada on the west coast near the Pacific Ocean driving toward Seattle, Washington. For any of you Canadians or Americans that are interested.

Here are my Canadian list of tentative destinations that I will be visiting from Sweet Grass Montana rest area and or a campsite in Milk River, Alberta Canada to Alaska. I will be spending more time in Canada and Alaska when returning toward the lower 48 states. Also, I will be using Wi-Fi when I stop into towns, or cities to download any photos or videos of my trip. Due to the fact of poor reception, of Internet and phone service not being in vast areas.

1. Banff National Park. AB, Canada.

2. Jasper National Park AB, Canada.

3. Dawson Creek BC, Canada.

4. Summit Lake BC, Canada

5. Dawson City BC, Canada.

6. Klondike Yukon Territory, Canada.

7. Tok, Alaska USA.

Note: These sites can change at anytime due to weather and unforseen curcumstances beyond my control.

Throw in Hope B.C. cool little town that popped up when the area became a cross roads. You mention you're stopping in Seattle; plan on going any further south? (like Portland)?

At this moment I do not have Portland listed for Oregon, but itineraries always change and I will look into Hope BC... Thank you.

Not much in Dawson Creek. Spend that time in Dawson City or Valdez Alaska . National Parks are free this year.

Gas is expensive but everything else will be cheaper. I have not been up to Alaska since 1969, it was not paved and you could count on a cracked windshield. Might be paved now. Perishable foods were expensive. If you want wilderness go east to Cape Breton and Newfoundland. My favourite place in the world.

I have been watching videos for months with those who travel Canada and Alaska besides government announced projects working on the roads. Worked on vids with YouTube with people bringing in their cameras to video prices in stores. Done research on auto parts stores and their prices, gas prices, free camping, paid camping, etc, etc, etc. To plan for what I am doing takes 12 - 18 months before you go which includes 12-13 states, Canada, and Baja Mexico. I have a site on FB named, Alaska, Canada, lower 48 states and Baja Mexico open to the public. If you care to join, or are interested to see what I am doing, your welcome to do so.

Brings back great memories. I have ridden a 1979 Yamaha XT500 through the Yukon, NorthWest Territory and Alaska on two different trips. I rode my KLR650 from Provo Utah to Prudhoe Bay (Dead Horse) 3 years ago. Saw every one of those destination camp spots. I actually grew up in Milk River Alberta. Booming town of 800 with a pretty cool dinosaur museum. I say go and have a great time. The North country has a mystic to it that I can't get enough of. Dawson City Yukon is definitely a great place to spend a few days. Drink in the Gold rush feel of the town. If you are that far, a trip on the ferry across the Yukon river and up the Dempster highway to the Arctic Circle at Eagle plains is worth the trip. Road is not as bad as it used to be. It is still gravel, but unless it is raining, it is a pretty good road. It doesn't get muddy unless they have dug down through the gravel and shale rock road bed. Not as much semi truck traffic on that one compared to the Haul road north of Fairbanks. Top of the World Highway from Dawson to Tok is great. Wander down some of the side roads if you have the time. Planning on a trip to Yellowknife NWT next summer on the bike. Would love to take the Elio up there one of these days too.

Be careful and have a great time. Give Moose the right of way and don't feed the bears. If you come down the coast of BC on the way back, take a side trip off the Cassiar highway and go over to Hyder Alaska. Caroline will sell you some of the best homemade fudge I have found at the gift shop. The Stewart river road has some good places to watch the bear eating salmon if you are there at the right time, just 15 miles or so out of town on a paved road. The Stewart glacier is pretty impressive too.

I am really jealous now. I need to go back again.
