WooHoo! Now just two steps out the door instead of 5, alright!

My deal was having the seatbelt set up as if you were on the passenger's side of a regular car. So when you get in you would pull it from right to left to get the click. This would get the retracted seatbelt out of the way for actual people attempting to enter and exit the backseat. Go figure.

Hey all, Happy Friday :D

Fuel Tank and SIL!
April 7, 2017

Happy Friday Elio’ers! The weather is finally fair enough that baseball is being played across the country. In many parts across the country the weather can seem that it’s not quite baseball season, but despite Mother Nature, the phrase “Play Ball” is a phrase being uttered across the country. Even if you’re not a sports fan, you have to acknowledge that the blooming trees and warming weather signal the beginning of a wonderful time of year. The prospect of ditching the winter jacket for backyard cookouts has to conjure a smile.

This week’s Friday Blog is going to cover two important topics: the upcoming Spot In Line (SIL) mailing and the location of the vehicle’s gas tank.

As you probably know, our reservation holders are incredibly important to our mission of changing how Americans move. Our goal is to provide an affordable, fuel-efficient and safe vehicle that is manufactured in the United States. Our reservation holders are integral to our mission. Every reservation makes a difference, but only our $1,000 All-In reservation holders receive a Spot in Line (SIL). A SIL is a unique number that represents their exact standing in the reservation queue. This number is set in stone: once you have a SIL, no one can get ahead of you in the line.

Because reservations can be upgraded and converted, the process is not automatic, and we send out a batch of reservation numbers every 8 weeks or so. The next batch will be sent out next week and the deadline to meet the upcoming SIL email to all new SIL’ers is Sunday, April 9th at 11:59 PM Eastern. If you make a reservation or upgrade to the $1,000 level before the deadline, you can expect your vehicle in the first 24 thousand Elio’s delivered! We realize being a trendsetter is not for the average person, but we know that some supporters want to be the first to cruise around town in their Elio.

If you’ve previously received an SIL email with your number you will not receive another email with each mailing. Your number is already set in stone! We appreciate your support tremendously.

Secondly, we want to talk about the location of the gas tank. Previously, the gas tank was located on the right side (traditional passenger side) of the vehicle. This generated a fair amount of conversation. Our marketing team, with help from you all, realized that there marked advantages to moving the gas tank to the left (traditional driver) side. Elio Motors engineers were able to incorporate the request with the frame and body upgrade and were able to place the vapor canister to the left side. Additionally, to the relief of just about everyone, the fuel filler door is now on the traditional driver’s side. You won’t make frequent stops to gas stations in your Elio, but when you do, it’ll be a quicker process.

Safety + Convenience = A win.

Thanks for your support and have a great weekend!

The fuel filler was never a big issue for me, but I DO appreciate having it moved away from the exhaust plumbing.

Curious: What's become of the heated leather seat option after the vendor change? Will both seats be heated? Every year my appreciation for a therapeutically warmed backside seems to grow.
