Friday 13th
Happy Friday Elio’ers! You may have noticed that today is Friday the 13th. It also happens to fall in the spookiest month, October. If you’re feeling extra superstitious today, know that you are not alone: some estimates claim that 2.5 million Americans are afraid of Friday the 13th. While some may fear today’s date, others have embraced it. For example, the New York-based Colgate University has decided to turn the tables and celebrate “Lucky 13” every Friday the 13th! Either way you look at it, we can all agree that we’re ready for the weekend to kickoff.

In today’s Three Wheeling Friday Blog, we are going to cover a topic that seems to garner a good deal of curiosity among both diehard reservation holders and new followers: our unique financing plan. Just so we’re all on the same page, we’ll start out with the basics and then get into the nitty-gritty details.

The genesis of this plan is centered on the economics of the Elio (ultra-low cost and high mileage) and the average miles per gallon of a vehicle on the road today. The average vehicle on the road today gets around 21 MPG, on average, while the Elio is targeting over three times that amount. This means that the Elio should cost the average driver 1/3 less for fuel to drive the same miles.

Basically, we call this financing option “Have your gas savings make your payment.” If you choose this program, you will receive a special Elio Motors credit card when you pick up your new Elio. Each time you stop at a gas station, you will use the Elio Motors credit card to pay for the gas and the card. Your credit card statement, however, will reflect the gas purchase as 3 times the purchase amount. You are used to paying the higher amount for gas so you don’t feel it in your pocket, but you end up with a new, warrantied vehicle in the process!

So, for example, let’s say that you spend $20 on gas to fill up your tank. The card will be charged a total of $60. Why the $60? $20 is going to the oil company and the remaining $40 goes toward the balance of your vehicle. So, thus the name, the money you would otherwise be spending on gas is paying for your new ride!

Here are some great questions that frequently come in about the program:What kind of credit will I need to qualify?

Q: What kind of credit will I need to qualify?

We are focused on making the Elio, but the partner we choose to supply the credit card will make this determination. There, of course, will be some creditworthiness requirements, but we believe that with our ultra-low base price that a wide range of credit scores will qualify. We know logically that more people can qualify for $7,000 loan than for a new car costing over $30,000.

Q: Will there be a minimum payment?

Yes, there will need to be a minimum amount paid toward the loan amount every month, regardless of gas purchases. The minimum amount will depend on a number of factors and will be available in the coming months.

Q: Can I use the credit card when I fill up my other vehicles? What about other purchases?

That detail is yet to be finalized, but we anticipate the answer to be yes, you can use the card whenever you like! Important to note however that the card will work the same for all purchases. All purchases will be charged 3X the amount, with 2/3rds of the purchase going toward the payment of your Elio.

Q. Can I opt for different payment options, or even just pay in cash?

Absolutely you can pay in cash! Additionally, we will have traditional financing options available so you have options on how to best finance your Elio.

Thanks for your support and have a Lucky Friday!

Ya'll need to learn fractions.
21 MPG is FOUR FOLD as much fuel consumption as the Elio.
Should say:
"This means that the Elio should cost the average driver 3/4 less for fuel to drive the same miles."

I was thinking the same thing Crimson!!! Honestly I think they are slowly preparing us for the reality that the Elio may get 60-70 mpg. 63mpg is what we should be expecting. I've said it before but they should have promised 55 or 60mpg from day one. I'm ok with 63, but I can understand that some people may not be happy.

This Friday is a followup from Wednesdays
Happy Friday Elio’ers! We hope that you are enjoying the fall season and are ready for a laid-back weekend. This week, we’ve got quite a bit to cover, so let’s get right into it!

If you missed it, Wednesday’s Momentum outlined how we will make buying the in-demand Elio a more on-demand process. Basically, we will have Elio Motors retail centers strategically located across the country. To make the process of buying an Elio quicker and more personal, we will have several marshalling centers in the United States that will let us quickly turn around orders to the customer’s exact specifications.

Following the Momentum, as is usually the case, we were inundated with great follow up questions. Below are some of the most common and interesting questions we fielded from supporters after the Momentum was published.

Will I be able to pick up my Elio from the factory?

At this stage, our plan is to allow $1,000 All-In reservation holders to come down to the plant, take a tour of the facility, and head on down the road in their new Elio. The details are still being ironed out, but we think it’s going to be an awesome experience for our early adopters. Also, there have been some discussions out there about picking the vehicle up at the factory to save on the delivery fee. This is not true as there will be a delivery charge at the plant for this select group of $1000 all in reservation holders yet to be finalized.

Can I pick up my Elio from a marshalling center?

The marshalling centers are dedicated solely to installing options and handling logistics as quickly as possible and therefore will not be available as a consumer pickup location.

You mention different delivery options for reservation holders. What are they?

Great question! Reservation holders will have several delivery options available and the process could be different from that of the general public. While not all 60 stores will be open the day we start production, as stores open in the first year, pickup at those retail centers will be an option. Reservation holders can also opt to have their vehicles shipped to several available locations: a local public space like a racetrack or fairgrounds, maybe a supplier partner’s location or maybe, to make the process really on demand, even right to their front door! The costs are still being finalized as we work through the process, but just like with everything we do, we are committed to keeping the prices as low as we possibly can.

Let’s say I pick up my Elio with options but want to add other options later. Will I have to go through the aftermarket?

One of the unique aspects of our ePlus option program is the ability to keep up on all of the latest available technology through Elio Motors with OE fit and finish. After you have purchased your Elio, you will not need to buy a new vehicle to get the newest options. You will be able to add the latest Elio approved parts well after the purchase of the vehicle. The Elio Motors OEM parts will be available online, at our retail stores and through our service partner.

Thanks for your support and have a magnificent weekend!

Great to see these communications twice a week. Keeps us fateful, faithful.
I would really really really like to see a new Elio with all the new attributes that have been talked about since the E1C.
I have enough hi res E1C pictures, so I do not mind the current tiny format.

I had been wondering if people would walk into a retail store and be told sorry you're number 65,342(assuming that's the next number because the website has been showing 65,341 for 6 months). Sounds like we will get our cars before the retail stores open to the public. That's a good plan. If people see Elio's cruising the road there will be a line a mile long to get into a retail store when they open!

I was also worried that Elio would have to start big to make everything work. Maybe they have a plan to start on a smaller scale, ship cars directly to buyers, and build some excitement as they ramp up to full scale production. Go Elio!

Warning... the following is from someone who is impatient and getting cranky.
Normally Elio gives us info that we want to hear. I think they messed up.
Elio says... "but just like everything we do"
I interrupt myself reading and think...Oh do you mean like ending your non answers on most follow up questions with "yet to be finalized." Cause that's what you do a lot of with my questions. I understand Elio can't discuss much either. (I warned you I was cranky and it gets less pretty from here on.)
Elio says... "but just like everything we do, we are committed to keeping prices as low as we possibly can."
I think Really! I guess just not committed enough to keeping prices low and NOT charging me a fee for a NON delivery?
So it sounds like a load of bull and a huge rip off that will disappoint many. Or maybe it's just crazy, cranky ol, cheap ass, impatient, attention deficient, sarcastic me? But sure I am as optimistic as anybody. No really. Sure maybe with an occasional depressed thought of "I cant believe I spent 1000.00 on a tee shirt". But for the most part I really do want to see light at the end of the tunnel but they keep pushing the tunnel so far away. I can barely see the tunnel in two plus years away, much less if there is any light in it. Go towards the light...Gosh that sounds like a near death experience doesn't it? I guess for many it has been or will be. I wonder how an Elio binding contract works with the person who is now dead? I mentioned I was attention deficit right? Anyway...
I say Elio do what your going to do but don't expect me to gobble up that you care so much about me, my finances or about answering questions. Please. It's insulting.
I wonder how much Elio will charge us for their tour? Better yet, how much will Elio charge us for NOT going on their tour? Perhaps it's added into the non delivery fee? What's that? Someone didn't get an auto transmission? Oops, could that be yet another fee? Ha-ha
Just think only a few more years and months to go, assuming they don't extend it again and again like the reality and history that has shown them to do this repeatedly. But why not expect a different out come each and every time? We can't all be crazy right? I did mention I was crazy though, right?
Go Elio! Please take your time, being positive is SO fun. We live on your caring words ...yet to be finalized.
I covered that I was sarcastic right? OK, Carry on.
